Golden Arrow Sober Living in Conroe, Texas, offers men a place to take that next step. On our 25-acre campus, residents can build a routine, live alongside other men in recovery, and move toward greater independence with support and accountability.
Why sober living after treatment?
A sober living home offers an alcohol- and drug-free environment where recovery remains part of daily life. Residents can attend meetings, pursue work, build supportive friendships, and practice the skills they learned in treatment.
Research suggests that recovery housing can help. A systematic review found better outcomes for recovery housing than usual continuing care or no housing intervention on measures including abstinence and employment. The evidence is promising, although the number of strong comparison studies remains limited. No home can guarantee sobriety for an individual.
Why a men’s home?
Some men find it easier to speak openly and connect with peers in a men’s living environment. One study of sober living houses associated men’s homes with higher odds of alcohol abstinence than mixed-gender homes. That finding does not mean a men’s home is best for everyone; the right fit depends on the individual.
What life at Golden Arrow can look like
Our Conroe campus offers a private fishing pond and creek, walking and hiking areas, a swimming pool, basketball court, workout space, lounge, and a game room with pool and ping pong. The outdoor space and shared activities give residents ways to connect, unwind, and build a life around more than avoiding substances.
House managers, drug and alcohol testing, job search help, and access to AA and NA meetings add practical structure. Outpatient programs, including IOP and PHP, may be available on campus through a separate clinical provider when appropriate. Golden Arrow Sober Living provides recovery housing, not medical or clinical treatment.
Plan the next step together
Before discharge, ask the treatment team what ongoing support they recommend. Talk with your loved one about housing, meetings, outpatient care if appropriate, transportation, and work. Ask any sober living home about its rules, management, testing, and availability, and include him in the decision.
